We had such a wonderful family night at Shankweiler’s Drive-In Theatre! The kids had an amazing time, and even my son Mark—who usually doesn’t enjoy traditional movie theaters because they’re too loud—absolutely loved the drive-in experience. The owners, Matt and Lauren, were incredibly kind and welcoming. They even let us borrow a portable radio so we could listen to the movie. The funniest part was that our radio suddenly switched to a station playing “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!” 😂 For a few minutes we were watching Minions with Christmas music instead of the movie, and we couldn’t stop laughing! It turned into one of our favorite memories of the night. Great atmosphere, friendly owners, delicious popcorn, and a truly unique family experience. We can’t wait to come back.

I have been following Shankweiler’s on social media since it had been taken over by the newest owners. I loved seeing all that they were doing to save this theater and was happy to see all the accolades they have been earning. All along, looking for a good opportunity to go see a movie there. Well it finally happened this past evening, where I was finally able to bring my two sons to see a movie here. I have fond memories of going to the drive in from when I was a kid, going with my parents to the Star Light and Becky’s. It had been years and years since I’d been to a drive in. When we pulled up, parked, and got out of the car I stared around at the neon lights, and the old speaker stands, and it was as if I was dipped in magic waters, the memories so thick I had to brush them away. Nostalgia in the absolute best possible way. We set up the car, chairs out, blankets set and radio on. We went up to the very reasonably priced concession stand, and got all the favorites, popcorn, funnel cake, hot dogs, drinks and pretzels. It was all very tasty, fresh, and the staff inside was great. The boys were all settled, and I sat grinning like an idiot as the chomped on popcorn, sipped on fruit punch, laughed at the Minions, and commented about all the stars they could see over head. It’s was such a fun evening, just pure joy, at a great drive in movie theater, that I had to share my experience. I cannot wait to come back and continue to build memories here

This is my wife's first experience at a drive-in movie theater. It has been on her bucket list for quite some time. We went to see Devil Wears Prada 2, and it was a very nice experience. The theater is well run; organized, and very clean. Located in Orefield, PA, it is spacious and easy to navigate and park. The concession stand has reasonably priced items(well below inside theater pricing), other food and drink items, and of course, clean restrooms. The theater and surrounding areas; concessions stand, and restrooms are handicap ♿️ accessible. First impressions could not have been better! We will be back to see more movies for sure here at Shankweller's Drive-in Theatre! Blade ❤️ The Sharpest Edge

Amazing experience! First time visiting a drive in theater, something thats been on my bucket list for a long time. It was like stepping into a little slice of the past. Every staff member we encountered was extremely friendly and kind, in a way you dont see often these days. Everything from the snack bar was tasty and very reasonably priced- they even have radios you can rent so you don't kill your battery. Such a fun unique experience, and although we live a few hours away, we will be coming regularly for a fun night out! Thank you for keeping a piece of history alive
