Movers
The last mile of every real estate story.
Hiring a mover without the horror story
Get two or three written estimates based on an in-home or video walkthrough, never a phone guess. Understand whether each quote is binding or non-binding, and book early: summer Saturdays around here fill up more than a month out.
Legitimate in-state movers carry Pennsylvania PUC authority, and interstate movers need federal operating authority you can check on the government's Protect Your Move site. Big deposits are a warning sign; reputable companies collect most of the bill on delivery.
Released-value protection is the free default and pays by the pound, about 60 cents per pound per item. Full-value protection costs more and is usually worth it for a whole-house move. Photograph high-value items before the truck is loaded and note claim windows in the paperwork.
