Real Estate Brokerages
The offices behind the agents.
What the brokerage does
Every agent in Pennsylvania works under a brokerage, and the broker of record is legally responsible for supervising transactions and safeguarding escrow money. When you hire an agent you are also hiring their office's contracts, oversight, and error coverage.
Franchise offices bring national marketing reach and relocation networks; independents often trade that for deeper local roots and flexibility. For sellers, ask any brokerage where your listing will actually appear and how its agents cooperate on showings.
Becoming a broker is the profession's second license: years of full-time experience as a salesperson, hundreds of classroom hours, and a separate state exam. That is worth knowing as a consumer too, because it is the broker, not the agent, who answers when something goes wrong.
